The Privatization of War| Lize Mogel & Dario Azzellini | 2006/2009

The Privatization of War: Columbia as Laboratory and Iraq as Large-Scale Application is a collaboration with writer/researcher Dario Azzelini. It diagrams the
relationships between the United States and private military contractors (PMCs) and their activities in Columbia and Iraq—two key sites that exemplify how PMCs operate.

Originally commissioned for the 2006 Gwang-ju Biennial, the map went on to be translated into three languages and published in newspapers internationally. The map was updated in 2009, as the PMC landscape shifts quickly and individual companies strategicially merge, are renamed, or move their base of operations.
